Product Description
Wa-sa-bi n. - 1. An Asian herb
whose root is ground to make wasabi powder or paste.
Usually used when eating raw fish. 2. A HOT spicy band!
Milton Koga who is the leader, lead vocals and lead guitar
heads Wasabi.
His son Kenton is also in the band.
Wasabi's music are from the 50's, 60's & 70's because
Milton says, "it's the best music in the world!"
His son Kenton agrees, as well as vocalist Doreen Nakamoto
and drummer Paul Arquette, who round
out the group. Wasabi are mainstays every Saturday at Hilton
Hawaiian Village's Shell Bar
and every Wednesday at Westridge Shopping Center's Chez Moniques.
They also play music from the 80's up to the current sounds, however their
focus
is music from the earlier years.
Milton basically picked up a guitar as a kid and never put it down. He previously
had a 23-year
run with the group White Light. Kenton, who moonlights as a UH student,
primarily plays keyboards
(which he has mastered in 2.5 years) as well as the saxophone, flute and
vocals. Arquette, who has
been playing in Hawaii in various rock, country and blues bands for more
than 20 years, also doubles on
guitar and vocals. Doreen Nakamoto is one with multiple talents, but contributes
just her vocals
on this CD. During their concerts she fronts the band, introducing their
work, bantering with
the audience and keeps the fun flowing.
