Product Description
We realize that who we are began
many generations ago. In admiration of that golden
era, we’ve chosen only few of so many classic Hawaiian tunes in honor
of the traditional
Hawaiian trio. It is because of those pioneers that we are able to
enjoy and appreciate the
opportunity we have today to incorporate our contemporary sounds into the
firm foundation
we all know and love called Hawaiian music. On this first album we
tribute the bountiful places
of rare and unrivaled beauty found only in Hawaii. Then
& Now Ma’o, Ma’ane’i allows
us
to perpetuate a musical legacy that is far from forgotten, but is alive
and well and continues
to evolve through our generation.
The goal of the group UA and this
album Then & Now Ma’o, Ma’ane’i, is
to elevate
the prestige of Hawaiian music similar to the legacy left by such classic
groups like the Kahauanu
Lake trio. In no means are we going to try and replicate or be a spin
off of any group that preceded
us, but we would like to parallel to the Hawaiian music scene of today -what
the Kahauanu Lake trio
and other similarly prestigious groups have done during their time in the
late 1960’s through the 70’s.
They set a new standard of performing and created a different sound than
what was being
played at that time.
When people buy this album, it
will be unlike anything out there in the Hawaiian music
market today. The album is compiled with traditional songs, songs
that have been chosen
and taken from a generation past. It will be familiar songs with familiar
tunes but sung in such a
way that will leave listeners wanting more. It was our intent to refresh
and sprinkle a little rain on
some of these classic songs. Buyers will also be treated to an original
song never heard
before, Laehala written by renowned Hoku Award winning song-
writer Julian Ako. Also listeners
will be treated to a beautiful rendition of the traditional Tahitian song
Bora Bora, which was
sung by guest Polynesian R&B recording artist Reign. In its entirety,
the musical arrangements
and the vocal harmonies are so unique and distinct that the sound can only
belong
to one group…UA!
