Product Description
Tana began his signing career in Samoa. After competing in a signing contest at the RSA
nightclub in Apia, Tana was offered positions with a few different bands, but when the chance
to sing at the Mt Vaea
nightclub came up in 1999, he took it.
The Mt Vaea band became the most popular in Apia, and Tana was their lead singer. They also
toured Savaii at the end of the year, where Tana had the chance to work alongside Le Eva Eva band.
When the tour ended, the band headed back to Apia to record. Mt Vaea 2000 was the
result; this was a collection of some of the most popular songs played while on tour.
In early 2000, Tana moved to New Zealand. He was sent to try out for a new nightclub,
Club Leon, and a band headed by the founder of the Kokonut band.
While playing at Club Leon, Tana began to work on his first solo album, living with
the band at the studio; he got to watch a lot of different artists come in to record, Aneseto
Falemoe, Isaako Pula, Victor and Fanu, along with members of the RSA band and other
bands who came to do recordings.
By the end of the year Tana's album was ready and he returned to promote it in Samoa
and
American Samoa, tracks like "Samoa Manaia", "Malaga E Leai Se Taunu'uga" and "I Lalo O Le Masina"
were instant hits on Samoan Radio.
Tana then returned to New Zealand and Club Leon until he was invited to the States to
start working on a second album. Tana got to work with an award winning Latin producer
but the collaboration only resulted in one track. While in Los Angeles however Tana
met with the
producer of Jamoa Jam and Pacific Soul. This was the meeting that led to the making of Natural.
Natural features 15 tracks in all, 12 original and 3 remakes. Tana is joined on the album
by artists from Jamoa Jam and Pacific Soul, as well as some new up and coming talent.
Tana is currently working on promoting the album while also doing some film work in
Australia. He has featured in several short films in the past year as well as one
feature film and is about to begin work on a second feature film for 2007.
