Product Description
For the love of music…they bonded together as friends on Kaua`i,
enjoying the casual pau hana,
backyard-ukulele jamming beside the waters of Papa`a Bay where Russell
Wellington lived as
groundskeeper back in 1995. Over time, their camaraderie ignited into a
serious passion to blend voices
with the unique picking and strumming of ukuleles; expanding to include
the additional work on guitar
and bass. The popularity of Papa'a Bay Boys' has grown
from playing at family parties/functions to
performing at various venues with larger audiences, including a 6 year run
performing at Keoki's in Poipu,
Kauai every Friday night, drawing more and more people just to see them
perform their playful genre
of music. With Darrell "Fingers" Rapozo heating
up his ukulele strings, Russell Wellington's smooth transitions
on the guitar, Keala Kau'anuhi improvisations on the bass
and the bonus talent of songwriter Ryan McKeague
as lead singer, the Papa'a Bay Boys caught the ear and
eye of Danny Kennedy who put them on the track
to producing their first CD. Contributing their talents to the group are
keyboardist Anson Lardizabel,
and percussionists Sergio Hurtado and Jason Suzawa.,
For the love of life…the Papa`a Bay Boys celebrate
families, emotions of past and new relationships,
and fond memories of their beloved island in their jubilance and upbeat
tempo, bringing young and old
to their feet…dancing, tapping or nodding to their music. Emerging
definitely at the forefront of island
entertainment, the people of Kauai have consistently voted the Papa`a
Bay Boys to be the
best and their favorite band over the past several years.
For the love of a dream…impassioned by their unspoken dream, each
member of the Papa`a Bay Boys
has dedicated efforts to bring the balance and harmony every musical group
needs to succeed.
Working with diligence and commitment to their musical compositions, they
have achieved the level
as professional artists…all for the love of music.
Kauai folks are proud of their Papa`a Bay Boys. They encourage
everyone to listen and enjoy
the music of Hawaii's up and coming new band.
