Product Description
It has been almost four years since their debut CD "Contemporary Hawaiian
Music for the 21st Century" was released and now the long awaited
2nd CD from Native Blend is finally here!!!
The eleven songs CD contain two hit remakes: "Make It With You"
(a 21st century
rendition of the classic Bread song done in a P. Diddy style) and "I'll
Never Get
Over You Getting Over Me" (the smash hit originally released on "15
Years
of Hits" The Best of Flyin' Hawaiian Volume 3).
Also on the CD are nine brand new original songs. Several of the songs
are sure
to cause controversy with risqué themes like alcohol consumption
("Drink It Up"
a happy hour anthem waiting to happen), marijuana use ("Dem People
Smoke
da Pakalolo"), domestic violence ("Listen to Your Heart"),
plus the war in Iraq
and Afghanistan ("War" and "Revolution"). These controversial
topics were
what fueled the title: "The Contents of Truth" because the subject
matters may be
considered Rated R in conservative and politically correct PG-13 circles,
but
they are nevertheless a reality in everyday life.
Native Blend's evolution as a group is also evident when comparing the
much
more mature sound of this album as compared to their debut CD.
The original quartet of Trudy Torricer, Greg Sakamoto, Chris Iyoki and
Josh
Oguma have added three new members from their touring live show to the
line-up: Award winning Producer and Keyboard player Lester Gantan, Guitarist
and Lead Vocalist Chris Mercado (formerly with Hoaloha and Side Salad) and
arguably the best island music drummer anywhere: Junior Lafaele.
The chemistry that resulted was an album that was done in a more roots
reggae style making "The Contents of Truth" an early favorite
for "Reggae Album
of the Year" for the 2005 Na Hoku Hanohano and Hawaii Music Awards.
Crossover radio appeal for this CD has ever more potential than their first
CD: four
years ago, their first single from their debut album "I'd Still Say
Yes" was a #1 song
not only on KCCN FM100 and Island Rhythm 98.5, but it also reached #1 and
it
was in heavy rotation on I-94 KIKI - crossing over into their urban
CHR/Hot 100 format.
Special musical guests on the new CD are: B.E.T. (on "Brown Is Beautiful"
and
"I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me"); Papa T from B.E.T.
(on "Revolution");
Jenn from Kanalo (on "Honey Hunting") and The Black Hawaiian (on
"Make It With You").
"The Contents of Truth " Is destined for island music greatness
and was produced
by Flyin' Hawaiian Entertainment and award winning producer Lester Gantan.
