With their debut release of Makani ‘Olu’olu in 2002, Na Palapalai not only captured the
hearts of many Hawaiian music lovers, but 5 N­a Hokuhanohano Awards as well.
Now the “Group of the Year” is back with their long-awaited second release, Ke ‘Ala Beauty
and what a fragrant blossom it is. This album is certainly a strong sequel to the multi-award
winning first CD and continues to exemplify “True Hawaiian Music” in the 21st Century.

Ke ‘Ala Beauty contain 15 songs, including 5 originals written by the trio, as well as many
classic selections, some of which have never been recorded. With soaring voices, the group
pays tribute to the Big Island of Hawai’I, in a heartfelt rendition of He Aloha Moku O
Keawe, an old favorite amongst many generations. Waiulu, composed by George Kaleiohi Sr.,
is a soulful cry, speaking of intimate feelings that can be best understood by those whose
relationship have stood the test of time. The title track, Ke ‘Ala Beauty is an endearing
composition by Kuana Torres speaking of the splendor of his home in Pi’ihonua on the
slopes of Mauna Kea. Finally, the voyage concludes with the special LIVE version of
I Call Him Lord, a definite “crowd pleaser,” which was recorded in Kuana and
Kehau’s hometown in Hilo.

Literally translated as “The Beautiful Fragrance,” Ke ‘Ala Beauty clearly highlights each
member’s diverse talents and vast background in Hawaiian Music. Truly a dying art in Hawai’i,
ha’i or falsetto-style singing is undoubtedly revitalized through Na Palapalai for generations to
