Product Description
"Music is love in search of a word."
- Sidney Lanier
If there is truth to this quote, then we can trust that Jerry "Pito"
Javier has a lot to say. After all, he'd be the
first to tell you that his debut album has been one overwhelmingly borne
of love. How else, in this age of instant
gratification, could one describe an album nearly four years in the making?
One begun not with negotiations and
long contracts, but with a word between friends and tracks that speaks to
all; sharing our life experiences - from
the purity of a first love to the pain of a heart-wrenching loss and everything
in between?
Though not a newcomer to the Hawaiian music scene -- Pito
has performed and recorded with artists such
as Sudden Rush, Quino of Big Mountain, BET, and others; was a 2nd place
finisher in the finals of Hawaii Stars,
season II (1995); and made a powerful debut with the singles Pure Aloha
and Where Do I Go From Here --
it is with this first solo project, Feels Like the First Time,
that this full-time Maui fireman and family man
plans to make a true musical splash in the islands.
"I know that it's been said many times before, but we've seriously
tried to come out with a sound that's both
fresh and relevant," says Pito. To do so, he's teamed
up with best friend and veteran producer "Radical Rob"
Onekea
to create a sound that's part reggae, part pop, part dancehall, part contemporary…
and all heart. A mixture of Pito's
distinctly smooth voice, Onekea's clean and powerful music,
and the duo's genuine lyrics combine to form a
sound that's at once mature, passionate, and fun.
With occasional yet invaluable contributions from talented entertainers
Mana, Wayne of the Rude Boys, and Papa T
of BET, Feels Like The First Time finds themes
running the full gamut of life: self-accountability in "Reflection",
friendship
amidst addiction in "Melted", "small kid
time" reminiscing in "Carry Me Home", puppy
love in "Puppy Love", and much more!
"Without music, my life would be a mistake," says Pito.
Here's to one man's life, and a public's desire fulfilled.
