Hawaiian music lovers rejoice!
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Hilo Hawaiians! Ono Records proudly announces the release of
THE CLASSIC LP “HONEYMOON IN HAWAII”, FOR THE FIRST TIME ON CD
A treasure was almost lost...
When Honolulu Magazine did a feature on the Best 50 Albums of Hawaii; The Hilo Hawaiians, Honeymoon in Hawaii
album came in at Number 34. Yet, amazingly it had been out of print for decades. A series of incredible events
led to the discovery of the master tapes and now the music is available for the first time on CD.
The CD has been re-mastered and restored and runs a full sixteen tracks, featuring all the songs from the original
1960 LP plus 2 rare bonus tracks. You can hear everything better than ever. It’s like hearing the songs for
the first time, and an entirely new listening experience.
This album is a must have for Hawaiian Music Collectors. It showcases the unique talents of Bunny Brown,
Kihei Brown. Arthur Kaua, Mona Kalima, and Buddy Brown at their best; Bunny Brown recalls,
“The whole album was incredibly recorded in just one session.”
This limited-edition collection also celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Hilo Hawaiians with a
lavish 16-page scrapbook, which includes the original 1960 Liner Notes, rare artwork and photos,
newspaper clippings, the cover art from 2 different original album covers, (one featuring beautiful HVB
Poster girl Rosemarie Alvarez), new articles, interviews and other memorabilia. The pages on the Haili
Church Choir
and Bunny Brown’s memories of the Ed Sullivan Show and the Hiroshima Maidens
share intimate information many will find interesting.
With roots in the famous Haili Church Choir, the Hilo harmony is a distinctively rich Hawaiian blend.
The arrangements range from ancient chant to missionary style harmony to upbeat hula to soothing steel guitar instrumentals.
Pure Hawaiian values and voices - from a happier and simpler time. Feel the “Aloha” of the Hilo Hawaiians.
