Product Description
When you think of the Hawaii Rap scene, it seems as if nothing or no one
comes to mind.
Well Tiki Entertainment introduces you to the answer…his name is Big
Teeze… born and raised
on the island of Oahu, HI, Terrence “Big Teeze” Hallums is one
we would consider someone
who has “Been there and done that”. With already strong airplay
for “Inseparable” and “Sad 2 Know”
Big Teeze continues to carve out his path in Hawaii Rap.
Graduating from Waianae High School, Big Teeze and three of his closest
homies came up with the
idea to create a Rap group. The name of this group was called “Back
2 Basix”, consisting of Big Teeze,
D-Train, Skillz and Smax. The group would bill themselves as the baddest
rappers in the 808 states,
battling and performing any chance they could, making a name in the streets
and creating a “Buzz” that
would catch the ear of producer/promoter Matt Young. While free styling
at a popular shopping mall,
the group was asked to open up for then rap stars, Cypress Hill and House
of Pain. The group took
the offer with no hesitation and rocked the house!!
From there, the group would now be known as Herban Joint, opening for such
acts as MC Ren,
Naughty by Nature, Kid Frost, L.S.O.B., Eazy-E, and Black Sheep to name
a few. The party would
not last for D-Train and Skillz, making Herban Joint the duo of Big Teeze
and best friend Smax. The
two would then go on to record their album entitled “Burnin’
Up Da Joint” which was put together
at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles California. When the lights stopped
flashing, the group took a
two-year hiatus, resulting in the break up of the pair. Big Teeze kept his
drive alive…
In 1998, Big Teeze would find him self collaborating with Miami bass music
legend, Derrick
Rahming of Afro-rican, to form the group “The Hi-Town DJ’s”
which blew out the monster club
anthem, “Ding-A-Ling” which ended up at number ten on the billboard
charts, making Big Teeze
the first and only Hawaii rap artist to accomplish this. Big Teeze and Rahming
would embark
on a world wide tour, performing along side artists like Mase, Big Pun,
2 Live Crew, Nate Dogg,
L.L. Cool J, Puff Daddy, Militia, Ice-T, and The Wu-Tang Clan, doing all
this while still living on
the west side Waianae!
With the experience and monies he made from the Hi-Town venture, Big Teeze
purchased
recording equipment and started his own label Outsider Records. Producing
Hawaii’s first female
rapper, J.B. He then produced Kutmaster Spaz’s debut album Spin City,
which introduced him
to Doug Farrar (the ultimate businessman and ultimate young hit maker) and
later Spookahuna,
both parts of Landmark Entertainment. This combination would later prove
to be lethal.
In 2000, Big Teeze was hired at Hawaii’s #1 Hip Hop and R&B radio
station, I-94 as a
weekend D.J. and would quickly move up to weeknights blowin’ up the
airwaves with fresh,
Hip, and energetic flows that would make him one of the most listened to
radio shows in Hawaii.
Hosting and MCing at almost all of Honolulu’s nightclubs, Big Teeze
is one of the most sought after
MC’s on the rock. He is now the drive time jock on the station from
3 pm to 7 pm.
